I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/18/2017 from NY 11420, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

INTEG: Normal skin turgor. A: URI. P: Move to iso. Rx Doxycycline 50 mg/ml. 1.3 ml PO q 24 hours x 10 days. Excellent prognosis.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Peddles was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Easy to handle, friendly ENRICHMENT NOTES: 04/19/17 Has some sort of wound/ abscess on his cheek. Lying down, squished against his litter box. Seems a little unsure. Eyes widen, backs away when I opened the door. Low body posture, crouched. Sniffs hand and accepts petting/attention. His body perks up/ tail rises when pet. Gives gentle head butts, seems to appreciate attention. A little shy at first but warms up quickly. Gave him some treats and a catnip toy. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Peddles was lying down in his litter box and watching the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Peddles brushes his cheeks against the litter box and wouldn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Peddles is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Peddles sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting/attention. He slowly warms up then gets out of his litter box and approaches the front. His body perks up, his tail becomes erect and he gives gentle head butts. Reaction to being picked up: Peddles allows all handling and nuzzles against the assessor’s arms. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Easy going, Sweet, Affectionate Average Peddles interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
