06/22/17 14:40 Basic Info Pearls is a 5 year old DSH whose owner moved and could not bring her. She has lived with her owner her entire life and has never been taken to a vet. Socialization Pearls is a little shy around strangers and hides for 20 to 30 minutes when they come over but then she comes out and walks around. She lives with two children at home an 11 month and 9 year old and she is relaxed and sometimes playful, and always gentle. She has only ever met another cat once but she hissed at the cat. Pearls has also lived with a large breed dog beore and she was relaxed aroundhim. She has never bitten a person or animal before. Behavior Pearls is kitty litter trained and does not scratch on furniture but likes to scratch on wood sometimes. She will struggle to get away when it is time for a bath. She is not bothered by having her nails trimmed or being put into a carrier.She struggles when i=being brushed and will whine when being picked up. New Family Pearls has a medium level of energy at home and likes to be in the same room as her owner. She enjoys string toys and is kept solely indoors. She sleeps opn furniture and is fed both wet and dry food 3 to four times a day. She has an uncovered litter box and uses fresh step litter. She has a horizontal scratch post made of carpet. Intake Behavior Pearls was calm and just looked around while being handled. She allowed all handling for collaring, scaning and photgraph.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Curious KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Behavior toward strangers: a little shy around strangers and hides for 20 to 30 minutes when they come over but then she comes out and walks around Behavior toward children: relaxed and sometimes playful, and always gentle Behavior toward dogs: lived with a large breed dog before and she was relaxed around him Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Energy level/descriptors: medium level of energy EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Pearls remains neutral lying down on her cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Pearls becomes alert with eyes wandering. Reaction to touch: Pearls is hesitant, but slowly engages the front and head bunts the assessor’s hand. She then randomly hisses to sudden noises and looks towards that direction, but snaps out of it and continues to solicit while remaining cautious. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Pearls tolerate attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
