Hello, my name is Peacelight. My animal id is #12646. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 14-Nov-2017.
Peacelight is at risk for medical reasons. Peacelight has contract Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, Peacelight has been assessed as being suitable for most homes.

BARH scan negative male intact 10 yrs old reported very nervous, hissing, swating poss ear mites, did not allow to clean ears mod tartar clean EEN BCS 5/9 unable to CT due to behavior NOSF
[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age:3 (reported 10 but un-neutered ten year old cat would look very different) Microchip noted on Intake? n History : o surrender Subjective: Observed Behavior -growling, hissing Evidence of Cruelty seen -n Evidence of Trauma seen -n Objective T = P =200 R =wnl BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, as sanginopurulent dc and foul odor, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: limited but appears wnl H/L: NSR, NMA, , Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: 2 testes MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: otitis, severe as Prognosis:good Plan:neuter tresaderm au bid x 10d
Presurgical exam and Sx notes: **limited to visual exam prior to sedation due to hx of aggressive/fractious behavior** BAR BCS 5/9 – no c/s v/d observed/reported – amb x 4 – mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Under sedation: – hydrated EENT: clear, AS hx of otitis – mod dark waxy discharge in ears, cleaned under sedation Oral Exam: mod tartar on molars, nosf PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupneic; nsf ABD: soft abdomen, no masses palpated U/G: intact male MSI: skin free of parasites, no masses noted, no obvious signs of injury/trauma Rectal: externally normal A: otitis, mild dental dz, otherwise apparently healthy = ok for surgery Sx notes: Routine Neuter => Testes exteriorized on R and L sides by scrotal incision over each testicle; each spermatic cord was auto-ligated and each testicle was excised distal to the ligature; scrotal incisions are left open to drain and heal by second intention; a green-ink tattoo was placed at the caudal abdomen/inguinal region lateral to midline and covered with tissue adhesive; both ears were thoroughly cleaned under sedation
observed to be doing a bit of sneezing and some serous nasal d/c. Moving to isolation to prevent infection to other healthy cats in ward. Starting doxycycline 40 mg po sid x 7 days and recheck
Anesthesia Report: Pre-medication: 0.07 mL dexdomitor, 0.04 mL butorphanol, 0.35 mL ketamine. 0.5 mL Simbadol and 0.35 mL Robenacoxib given SQ during prep for pain management.

Peacelight came out of the carrier willingly. He allowed collaring and handling. His eyes were constricted, body was low to the ground. He attempted to crawl away from the admissions counselor. He was not interested in food. The admissions counselor was able to take a picture and place him back inside the carrier.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -growling, hissing
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/15/17 Crouched at back next to litter box, eyes dilated, alert. Stayed hunched in place when door opened. Allowed and slightly leaned into pets, but remained wary. Sprayed thunderease. 11/16/17 In den on approach, face just poking out of window. Came out very briefly to eat wet food, then retreated back inside. Lay in place when door opened, head down, eyes dilated. Tolerated touch, no response at all. Sprayed thunderease.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Peacelight remains neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Peacelight shows interest and slowly engages the front.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Peacelight remains standing in place looking around his surroundings with tail slightly down.
Reaction to touch:: Peacelight leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs, and appreciates the petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: He briefly allows the pickup then jumps back into the cage.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
