02/10/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/10/17 14:11 Paxus A1103409 is an 8yr old neutered male reddish/orange tabby & white DSH feline who was picked up near the finder’s residence earlier this morning in the Bronx. The client stated they & their young child have been feeding him for the past few months but decided to bring him in to us today due to Paxus appearing “sick” after the snow storm from yesterday. They stated Paxus is friendly, interacted well with them and their child and allowed the finder to pick him up, wrap him in a towel to be brought into the BXAC. During intake Paxus allowed all handling. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared and taken pictures of even though he would try to run while I was taking his pictures. Paxus was picked up/held, rested comfortably on my arms, watched the window for a few minutes (which he seemed very interested/focused on) and was placed into a kennel with ease where he began eating all his canned and dry food.

02/13/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Name and A#: Paxus KNOWN HISTORY: Paxus came in as a stray. So there is no “known history” to speak of. Other notes: Senior cat with dental and health concerns EVALUATION: Cage Condition: no change Reaction to assessor: Rushed forward and extended soft paw Reaction when softly spoken to: Remained calm and relaxed Reaction to cage door opening: Remained relaxed and interested Reaction to touch: Allowed access-a-hand and gloved hand to massage his head and body . Reaction to being picked up: Makes a low grumbling sound when pick up was attempted MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Alert, watchful of outdoors, allows handling and head-butts when I scratch his head ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm RECOMMENDATIONS: _X_ Experienced cat parent – Paxus tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: _X_ Uncomfortable with pick up – Paxus did not appear to like being picked up during his behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking him up, especially while he is still adjusting to his new home.
