Reaction to assessor: Patches is lying down, calm and relaxed.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Patches looks at the assessor with almond-shaped eyes.
Reaction to cage door opening: Patches remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Patches approaches the front and accepts petting. She looks around her surroundings as the assessor rubs her on her head and along her body. She doesn’t seem to mind attention, but seems more interested in exploring her surroundings.
Reaction to being picked up: Patches remains soft and allows handling, but tries to wiggle free to explore.

Basic info:
patches is a 6 yr. old spayed DSH cat who was surrendered by his owner due to the fact she is moving and can no longer have pets in the home. She had got Patches from a friend who also was moving. Patches has no known medical issues.
Socialization:
Owner states that when around strangers Patches is shy for a few minutes but will warm up depending on how she is approached. Patches has not spent time around children, dogs or other cats so it is unknown how she will react. When playing with adults owner states that Patches is gentle.
Behavior:
Owner states that Patches hides in fear. On the way to the ACC in the car Patches cried and meowed her whole way here. Patches owner has never bathed her or cut her nails. Patches enjoys being brushed. When being held or put in the carrier Patches struggles to get away. Patches isn’t bothered when she is disturbed while she is sleeping.

Owner described Patches as mellow shy and fearful with a medium activity level. Patches favorite activities are playing with tin foil. Her favorite toys are balls and shiny objects. Patches has been kept mostly indoors and eats dry food. Owner stated that Patches likes to sleep on something elevated like on top of a box. Patches is very much litter trained, never has accidents and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Patches doesn’t like to scratch a lot but she did have a carpet post in her previous home.

Patches was very stressed she was growling and hissing at the counselors during intake.
