05/13/17 13:34 Basic Information: Panther is a domestic shorthair calico unaltered female cat. She was originally a stray cat who landed in the care of her previous owner 6 months ago. Socialization: She was shy for a few minutes around strangers. She played gently with adults. She spent time and played gently with her 5 kittens. She lived with 2 small dogs a 8 years old poodle and 1 year old yorky. She has no bite history. Behavior: She was relaxed during car rides. The previous owner never bath, trimmed nails or brushed fur. She was not bothered by being held, put in carrier or disturbed while sleeping. During intake: Panther tolerated all handling and allowed collaring. She had a relaxed body posture, eyes were not fully dilated, and she was alert of the admissions counselor’s actions. She allowed the admission counselor to transfer between carriers.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Sweet KNOWN HISTORY: Indoor and outdoor cat Previously lived with: 2 small dogs an 8 year old poodle and 1 year old yorky Behavior toward strangers: shy for few minutes then warms up ENRICHMENT NOTES: 5/14/17- Tense, seems fixated on other cats in room. Crouched towards back, stiff posture, eyes dilated and staring at other cages. Near-constant quiet growling. Came briefly to the front to inspect toys, then lay down at the back, slow blinked at me. Allowed pets, but remained tense and grumbly. 5/15/17- Still a bit wary. Initially at the back, eyes dilated, quiet growling. Still seems fixated on other cats in room. Calmed a bit when pet, really leaned into throat scratches and closed eyes. When left alone, came forward a bit for treats. Seemed unconcerned when I handled kittens. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Panther looks soft and relaxed, lying down on her cage bedding when approached. Reaction to cage door opening: Panther remains immobile with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Panther allows the touch, leans into the assessor’s hand and purrs in place. Reaction to being picked up: She becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Panther interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
