Pre-spay visual exam performed by Dr. 1088 S: In carrier, hissing at me when I make eye contact O: BAR EENT: No discharge OU, nose. H/L: Eupnic, not able to auscult today Abd: Not able to palpate M/S/I: Amb x4. Pre-medication: 0.07 ml of Butorphanol IM, 0.07 ml of Ketamine IM, 0.035 ml of Dextomitor IM, 0.35 of Buprenorphine IM 0.34 ml of Onsior SQ for pain management Induction: Isoflurane Gas provided initially by mask, then pt intubated for the procedure itself. Spay performed by Dr. 1088 OVH, ventral midline incision. Uterus was thickened and the right horn was fluid-filled. Subcuticular closure with absorbable suture. 04/22/17 19:12 Basic Info Panther is a 6 year old DSh whose owner was moving somewhere that does not allow pets. She has been with her owner since she was a kitten and has last seen a vet in october of 2016. Socialization Panther is calm around strangers and will walk amongst them but still keeps her distance and does not get too close. She lives in a home with two other children ages 4 and 6. She is relaxed and tolerant around them and sometimes playful, she is always gentle when she plays. If she is not familiar with a child she treats them as she would any other stranger. She has not been around other cats or dogs. She has never bitten a person or animal before. Behavior Panther enjoys scratching on the legs of furniture but does not have accidents outside of her litter box. Panther does not enjoy baths too much and will swat, hiss and bite if attempted. She has never had her nails trimmed before and isnotbothered by being brushed or picked up and held. She does put up a struggle when trying to get her in the carrier. New Family Panther has a medium level of activity while at home. She likes to be in the same room as owner. Panther isnot partial to toys and is kept indoors only. She enjoys sleepingon top of the couch and does not like sleeping in cat beds. She is fed dry food twice a day. She uses thelitter box exclusively and has an uncovered litter box with scented freshs tep litter. She has a vertical scratchpost made of carpet thats he doesn’t use. Intake Behavior Panther was apprehensive when being approached by counselor and would shy away from touch but after a few moments came out of the carrier and head bumped counselor’s hand but then proceeded to iignore counselor and explore her surroundings but allowed all handling for intake.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Timid KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: an adult and 2 children ages 4 and 6 Behavior toward strangers: calm Behavior toward children: relaxed and tolerant Behavior toward cats: unknown Behavior toward dogs: unknown Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: Panther has a medium level of activity while at home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 4/23/17 Observed Behavior – fractious, growling and hissing; ears back; trying to swat and bite when approached ENRICHMENT NOTES: 4/23/17 Hunched on bedding, facing front, eyes dilated, tense posture. Started hissing when door opened. Left alone for now. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Panther looks neutral, lying down on her cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Panther becomes alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Panther leans away from the assessor’s hand while she low growls, but when touched ears go back, piloerection, and hisses. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Panther may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
