Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pandy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was quiet and still upon intake, but remained still for handling. She was tense and nervous during her initial medical exam, but also allowed all handling. The enrichment facilitator reports she was curled up and lowered her head during their first interaction. She allows petting and slowly approaches the front, then rubs for attention. During the second interaction, she leaned away when approached and closes her eyes. She seemed a bit more hesitant of contact, but will warm up and lean in for attention. Reaction to assessor: Pandy was resting upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Pandy looks at the assessor and blinks. Her paws are tucked underneath her body, but she rubs her cheeks against her bedding afterwards. Reaction to cage door opening: Pandy gets up and slowly stretches. Reaction to touch: Pandy was a bit hesitant, but accepts petting and leans in for rubs. She remains in place and begins to purr. Reaction to pick up: Pandy remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Pandy interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
