***SAFE 09/21/16***OREO COOKIE HAS BEEN DUMPED AFTER THE OWNER IS MOVING AND CAN’T TAKE HIM ALONG!!! He’s just a year old and lived with a 4 and 8 year old, and was said to be “excellent” with them. So why dump him at a HIGH KILL SHELTER? And the brain trusts at the ACC say OREO COOKIE didn’t like to be picked up and blamed it on “environment and stress related!!” Well, DUH!!! Nothing is more”stressful” than knowing your life can be over in less than 24 hours!!! Amazingly, this poor guy still maintained an AVERAGE RATING! Offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT OREO COOKIE, and save a life TODAY!

09/10/16 15:29 Basic Information: Oreo is a 1 year old domestic shorthair. He was surrender because he’s pervious owner is moving and can’t take the animal along. Oreo has never had any health issues or injuries. Socialization Oreo lived with one adults and children ages 4 and 8 years old. Owner stated Oreo is excellent towards children. He can be shy when visitors come to the house but warms up to them when he comfortable. Oreo has never been around other animals. Oreo has lived in a home with another cat. Oreo was respectful and playful with the other animal. Behavior: Oreo has no pervious pervious bite history with anyone or animal. He does have a habit of scratching on sofa and rugs. Oreo has never had any grooming or bushing. Oreo like to be held and rubbed. Oreo does getting frighten around loud noises. He will run and hide. For a New Family to Know: Oreo is litter box trained and has never had any problems. Oreo will follow owner around the house, be in the same room or sit on owner bed. Oreo eats dry food called Purina seafood flavor. Oreo isn’t responsive to toys. Intake Behavior: Oreo was alert and nervous upon intake. Oreo allowed all handling.

Oreo Cookie’s previous owner reports he has lived with one adult and two children. He was excellent with children, but can be shy when visitors come to the home. He warms up to them when he feels more comfortable. He has lived with another cat and was respectful and playful with this cat. He likes to be held and rubbed and will follow the owner around the home, staying in the same room. Reaction to assessor: Oreo Cookie was calm and relaxed when approached. Reaction when softly spoken to: Oreo Cookie’s eyes widen slightly, but he remains in place and looks around. Reaction to cage door opening: Oreo Cookie becomes alert, but remains calm. Reaction to touch: Oreo Cookie sniffs the assessor’s hand and was hesitant of touch initially, but he accepts petting and warms up. He leans in for petting and rolls over. Reaction to pick up: Oreo Cookie remains calm and allows handling. Placement Determination: Average Oreo Cookie interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. 9/16 update: While still social and affectionate when visited, Oreo Cookie is currently reacting poorly to being picked up. His previous owner does not note this problem so it may be environmental or stress-related, but in order to prevent having to handle Oreo in a way he is clearly uncomfortable with, we feel it is in his best interest to move into a stable home environment quickly.
