OREA – A1064985
Safe - 2-19-2016 Brooklyn
**SAFE 02/19/16** INNOCENT! Lovely OREA is an innocent 2-year-old boy who was just trying to find shelter in someone’s yard. What happened? Rather than make him a safe haven in a cooler, or throw some straw under the deck for him, that person brought Orea to the shelter! BAD MOVE! His shelter notes show a gentle boy who probably just got lost—he is noted as being DEHYDRATED upon intake, which is more common in pets who have never once had to fend for themselves! A FOSTER OR ADOPTER can save OREA tonight, so please work hard to find that for him. OREA deserves to LIVE!

02/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Orea was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was found wandering in a yard and was trying to find shelter to stay warm. Orea allowed the finder to pick him up and pet him. He had a relaxed body and was curious of his surroundings upon intake. He also allowed all handing during his initial medical exam. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Reaction to Assessor: Orea was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Orea looks at the assessor with relaxed eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Orea remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Orea remains in place and allows all petting. He seems mostly indifferent to the interaction, but will look at the assessor’s hand when pet along his body. Reaction to being picked up: Orea remains calm, but starts to whine and lip lick. When placed back into the cage, her curls up by the back and tries to avoid petting. Placement Determination: Experience Orea tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
