05/24/17 19:54 Orchid came in as a stray due to him roaming a basement in a building and had some medical concerns to finder. Counselor was able to take him out of carrier, take intake photo, collar and scan. He was easily placed in carrier no signs of aggresion

KNOWN HISTORY: Orchid was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on his behavior in his previous home. His finder found him roaming in a basement. He allowed the counselor to take him out of his carrier during intake and handle him throughout the intake process. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allows all handling. ENRICHMENT NOTES: Laying at the back, soft eyes and body, sleepy. Brief hesitation, then leaned into pets and purred. Slowly lifted rear for butt scratches. Sweet. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Orchid was calm and relaxed by the front, but becomes alarmed with people walking past and walks to the back to lie down. Reaction when softly spoken to: Orchid looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Orchid remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Orchid sniffs the assessor’s hand and head-butts gently. He leans in for petting, begins to purr, and is very sweet. Reaction to being picked up: Orchid remains calm and allows handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Sweet, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Orchid interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
