Hello, my name is Ophelia. My animal id is #11162. I am a desexed female black cat at the Staten Island Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a stray on 30-Oct-2017.
Ophelia is at risk for behavior challenges (New Hope Only determination). She has allowed minimal handling the care center and will display distance-increasing behaviors to avoid touch. There are no known medical concerns.

Barh Scan negative Female ~ 2 years old Lactating Ambx4 EENT : wnl Feral, did not allow handling…limited exam NOSF
PE: WNL Exam & surgery performed by Dr. 1385 Feline spay Anesthesia – 0.08 mL Telazol induction. Intubated. Isoflurane/O2 maint. Pre-medication: _0.27__mL Onsior Inj. and __0.36_mL Simbadol Inj. for pain management. Sx. – Routine feline ovariohysterectomy. Ligated ovarian pedicles by a pedicle tie. Ligated uterine stump with 3-0 PDS using a Miller’s knot. Closed the abdominal wall with 3-0 PDS in a single cruciate. Closed the intradermal layer with 3-0 PDS. Applied surgical glue to the skin. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision.

Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
Behavior during intake: Ophelia had a stiff body and was hiding in the trap during intake. Counselor was able to transfer from trap to den without any issues but was unable to handle due to animal trying to flee and hissing.
Basic Information:: Finder has noticed animal in the yard for several months and was able to trap Ophelia last night. Finder did not have any interaction with animal in the trap and stated that she was hissing and growling.

How is this cat around strangers?: Ophelia will flee when someone approaches her
How is this cat around children?: Unknown
How is this cat around other cats?: Unknown
How is this cat around dogs?: Unknown
KNOWN HISTORY:: Ophelia was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on her behavior history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Feral, did not allow handling, only able to perform a limited exam.
Cage Condition:: Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:: Ophelia did not come to the front, but remained neutral and was lying down by the back.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Ophelia remained in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Ophelia became stiff and alert, sat up, and appeared wary of her surroundings.
Reaction to touch:: Ophelia moved away to avoid being touched. When petting is attempted, she hisses and swats.

Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Ophelia is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat and is extremely fearful in the shelter environment, and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.

I came into the shelter as a stray on 30-Oct-2017.
Rosalie is at risk for being an underweight kitten. She avoids being touched and needs to be further socialized. Due to her age, she has not received a behavior assessment.

Behavior Condition: 2. Blue
Behavior during intake: Kitten had a stiff body and was trying to flee during intake. Counselor was able to transfer into a carrier without any issues. Kitten kept trying to flee so no other handling was done.
Basic Information:: Finder noticed a kitten outside for a few weeks and was able to approach kitten, pick kitten up and put into a box to bring to ACC
Previously lived with:: Outdoors
How is this cat around strangers?: Rosalie was nervous and trying to run away but once kitten is comfortable, Rosalie will allow to be picked up
How is this cat around children?: Unknown
How is this cat around other cats?: Unknown
How is this cat around dogs?: Unknown
