Reaction to cage door opening:: Oompa moves to other side of her cage, body tense.
Reaction to touch:: Oompa was tolerant of her back being touched, but then proceeded to swat, growl and attempt to escape.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Skittish,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Kitten socialization
Potential challenges comments:: Oompa Loompa is a young cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. Kittens less than 8 weeks of age can be socialized by almost anyone; however, kittens between 2-4 months may require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Please speak to an adoption counselor to learn more about socialization techniques.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : New hope only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Oompa Loompa is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
