He focuses on the assessor and lip licks, but accepts gentle petting with a slow approach. He doesn’t seem to mind gentle attention, but his body remains tense and he looks very uncomfortable.

KNOWN HISTORY: Ontario was brought in without information on his behavior in his previous home. He allowed all handling during the intake process. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allows exam, nervous, vocal EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Ontario sits upright and looks at the assessor, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ontario continues to look at the assessor, but starts lip licking. Reaction to cage door opening: Ontario hunches over by the back. Reaction to touch: Ontario remains in place for petting, but he lip licks and his ears tilt sideways. His eyes soften after a moment and he blinks softly when coaxed. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Calm RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parents – Ontario tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
