10/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Olympia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Olympia was curled up tight at the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Olympia lifts her head up, makes eye contact then hisses when spoken to softly and slowly turns away. Reaction to cage door opening: Olympia retreats into the litter box. Reaction to touch: Olympia arches her body then hisses at the assessor with ears bent flat and wide eyes. She swats when the assessor approached and quickly shifts away from contact. Please note that this cat has a wound so we may not be seeing any true behavior and behavior may change when the cat’s medical condition improves. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Olympia is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
