***SAFE 10/05/17*** HANDSOME OLIVER WAS RETURNED AND IS NOW LISTED FOR A COLD! OLIVER aka MONTEBELLO was adopted back in May. He has now been returned because he did not get along with the large dog and the child in the home. We do not know the circumstances or why. He did play gently with all the adults. OLIVER is otherwise friendly and gave head butts and was purring. Please give this handsome 2 yr old a new furever home. MUST RESERVE OLIVER BY NOON!!

09/19/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/19/17 17:01 Basic Information: Oliver is roughly 2 years old and he is a male brown tabby cat. He was adopted from ACC about 3 months ago buy the owner cannot keep him due to the lack of time and his behavior towards her daughter. He last went to the vet around three months ago and has no known health problems or injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Oliver is shy for a few days then warms up and becomes friendly. He previously lived with a 6 year old child and was aggressive, he would swat at her when she walked by him but he plays gently with adults. Oliver was aggressive with the large breed dog in the home and would swat at him. Behavior: Oliver tends to miss the litter box and will only go in the bath tub. He struggles when given a bath but isn’t bothered having his coat brushed. He doesn’t mind being picked up or placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Oliver is mellow, shy and quiet with a low to medium activity level. He enjoys spending his time staring out the window and sleeps in the owner’s bed. He’s previously used an uncovered litter box with any kind of litter. Behavior During Intake: I opened up the carrier and Oliver would retreat to the back and meowed when collaring him. He came out of the carrier when I tilted it a little and remained calm, quiet and still when taking a photo of him

09/23/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Curious, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults and a 6 year old child Behavior toward strangers: shy for a few days then warms up and becomes friendly Behavior toward children: hostile, but he plays gently with adults Behavior toward dogs: hostile with a large breed dog Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: Oliver was described to be mellow, shy and quiet with a low to medium activity level. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/20/17- Observed Behavior – Purring, social eater, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/20/17 Calm and relaxed by the front, curious of surroundings. Sniffs and accepts petting, but body tenses up when pet on back. Seems to appreciate attention, but may be easily overstimulated. Will keep an eye on him. 09/21/17 Approaches the front and makes eye contact, calm and relaxed. Allows petting and leans in for cheek rubs, but seems to focus on movement in the room. Still tense during interaction, but he doesn’t seem to mind attention. Can see him getting agitated with extended handling though. Kept interaction short to prevent overstimulation. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Oliver remains relaxed body, sitting upright by the front with soft eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Oliver stands with tail up moving slowly and fluidly from side to side. Reaction to cage door opening: Oliver solicits attention, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Oliver head bunts the assessor’s hand and purrs, but after some time with him he becomes agitated with the touch and increased distance while ears drew flat to his side. He began to low tail flick and paw the assessor’s hand to stop the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Oliver is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Oliver becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
