OLIVER – A1076772
Safe - 6-15-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
**SAFE 06/15/16** Frightened OLIVER is smart enough to realize he’s in grave danger at the ACC. His response to that accurate assessment has played out in a NEW HOPE rating from the organization that, quite literally, has the power of life or death over him. That’s right, the ACC realizes this guy is terrified but rather than spend any extra time trying to help him feel comfortable enough to appeal to potential adopters, the shelter has just decided to kill him tomorrow and stuff another cat in his cage. New Hope rescues would love to save more cats, but they need people like YOU to step up as fosters and adopters in order to make that happen! Please message the PODR Help Desk if YOU can be Oliver’s hero, and if you can’t, make sure to share him everywhere and pledge toward his rescue. Oliver needs a NEW HOPE rescue to pull him to safety, tonight!

06/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Oliver and at the time he was nervous. Oliver had his body curled up in the litter box. Oliver suddenly becomes tense then hisses. Reaction to assessor: Oliver does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Oliver hisses with his ears flat Reaction to door cage opening: Oliver continues to hiss Reaction to touch: Oliver allows petting with a slow approach wabut hisses and back away periodically. Oliver swats at the assessor when closing the cage Try picking cat up: Oliver does not allow handling Behavior Determination: NewHope Oliver was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. Oliver seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Oliver may require further investigation before placement in a home. He hisses and swat without warning. Oliver does not allow handling of any type. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
