STATEN ISLAND CENTER
**FRONT PAW DECLAWED**
Hello, my name is Oliver. My animal id is #11755. I am a desexed male gray cat at the Staten Island Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 04-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.
Oliver is at risk for behavior concerns (Adult-Only determination). He tolerates brief touch, but becomes uncomfortable and attempts to bite with prolonged interaction. He does not appear to be thriving in the busy care center. He needs an experienced cat owner who understands how to interpret his body language and warning signs.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…

ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Sweet,Timid,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Uncomfortable with pick up
Potential challenges comments:: Oliver did not appear to like being picked up during their behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking him up, especially while he is still adjusting to his new home.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: No young children
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Oliver tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
