OAK AND THE NUTTY KITTENS – #K16-058453
Safe - 5-27-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Feline Rescue of SI Please honor your pledges: http://felinerescueofstatenisland.org/donation/
***SAFE 05/27/16*** Leave it to the ACC to kill a mama cat while her 21-day-old babies mew and cry, and wonder where their everything went. That’s the scenario on tap for TOMORROW at noon unless a NEW HOPE RESCUE pulls OAK and her kittens, Pistachio, Almond, and Peanut. The thing is, only OAK, the mama cat, is listed tonight, so apparently the ACC is completely copacetic with killing them at a later date, so long as they can get OAK out of their hair, tomorrow. It’s a crying shame that New York City doesn’t do a better of job of educating it’s citizens that this crime plays out in the city, day after day…..but that’s the reality for OAK, right now. Only a NEW HOPE rescue can pull her (and her kittens) to safety, tonight!
**MUST BE PULLED BY A NEW HOPE RESCUE**

05/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Oak was hiding in the cat den when I approach cage When spoken quietly: Oak continues to hide in the cat den Reaction to door cage opening: Oak has wide eyes and hisses Reaction to touch: Oak hisses and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Oak was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. She seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Oak was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Oak may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
