***SAFE 07/20/17*** NORTHSTAR NEEDS AN ADOPTER OR FOSTER IN HIS “STARS” TONIGHT!! Poor NORTHSTAR was brought into the shelter for owner having “too many pets”. NORTHSTAR has some alopecia on his head, ears and had fleas on his tail. He apparently wasn’t well taken care of. Please consider helping NORTHSTAR today. He can use the TLC. He came in with DOT – A1118175 who is also listed tonight. MUST RESERVE BY NOON!

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Independent MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/10/17- Subjective: Quiet, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/10/17 Hunched in den on approach. No reaction to door opening or being spoken to. Completely immobile when pet, no response at all. Sprayed feliway. 7/11/17 Initially in den, facing away. Immobile when first touched, then came out of den and walked slowly to other kennel with body held low. No real response to pets, quickly turned around and retreated back into den. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Northstar remains tense, crouched position during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Northstar remains alert with normal shape eyes, ears erect and forward with tucked limbs. Reaction to touch: Northstar slowly leans away during the touch and stiffens up with no further interest during the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Northstar tolerates attention and petting, but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Clean teeth. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Male intact, testicles S/S MSI: Ambulatory x 4, LARGE amount of flea dirt. Alopecia and thickened skin rostral to ears, on dorsal neck, on ventral abdomen. CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Fleas, possible flea allergy dermatitis, fractured tooth Plan: Benadryl 6.25 mg PO BID x10 days Prognosis: Good SURGERY: Okay for surgery 1088
