I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/21/2017 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON.

A1116103 Noire – Adult Only determination; Appears cautious of the shelter environment, hiding in a cat den when approached. Becomes alert when approached for interaction, but allows gentle petting and curls up. She does not display distance-increasing behaviors, however she does not seem comfortable with interaction.

06/21/17 15:17 The cat tolerated being handled and allowed being collared. The cat’s ears were erect and the cat was alert. Noire did shy away when there was an attempt to take Noire out of the carrier so the photograph was taken in the carrier.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/22/17- Fractious ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/22/17 In den on approach, peeking through window. Withdrew when cage cover lifted. Shifted in place when pet, then started to lip lick and growl. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Noire remains hiding in the cat den. Reaction to cage door opening: Noire remains stiff in place, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Noire accepts the touch while he tightly curls up in place and shows no interest. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Noire tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
