Lying in litterbox with a low, tense body. Tolerates petting while flattening ears and vocalizing softly. Smells my hand. Conflicted and unsure – needs more time to adjust.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor: Nice was curled up tight at the back of the cubby.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Nice lip licks and meows softly when the assessor tries to coax him forward.
Reaction to cage door opening: Nice is alert and lowers her head.
Reaction to touch: Nice’s eyes become dilated and she stress meows when the assessor extends his hand forward. She sniffs then leans in when rubbed on her cheeks and allows petting with a slow approach. She rolls around when she feels comfortable, continues to vocalize and gives soft head butts.
Reaction to being picked up: Nice was a bit tense when picked up, then quickly leaps back into the kennel.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Talkative
CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Sweet, Affectionate
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Nice may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
