Hello, my name is Nena. My animal id is #14447. I am a female torbie cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender – aco on 22-Nov-2017.
Nena is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. She will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for Nena at this time, average determination.

History : Surrendered because attacked owner, DOH hold Subjective: BAR too aggressive to PE Observed Behavior – very aggressive growling and striking in net Evidence of Cruelty seen – None observed Evidence of Trauma seen – None observed Objective T =NE P = wnl R = wnl BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: NE PLN: NE H/L: no obve abnormalitiesNSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Unknown MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: no obv abnormalities on limited exam due to aggression Prognosis: med good Plan: sched spay, complete pe and check for spay scar/tattoo at that time SURGERY: Okay for surgery

KNOWN HISTORY:: Nena was brought in as a stray so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – very aggressive growling and striking in net
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/26/17 Crouched towards back, tense, eyes dilated. Stayed hunched in place when door opened, sniffed assess-a-hand, started lip licking. Shifted slowly away to avoid touch. Sprayed thunderease. 11/27/17 Crouched at back behind litter box, stiff posture, eyes dilated, looking around. Hissed and started lip licking when door opened. Leaned forward to sniff assess-a-hand. Briefly leaned away, then tolerated pets, clearly uncomfortable. Started eating treats after door closed. Sprayed thunderease. 11/28/17 Crouched right at the front, very tense, eyes dilated. Sniffed assess-a-hand through the bars. Stayed in place when door opened. Allowed and very slowly started to lean and arch into pets, very cautious. Frequently paused to sniff hand, some lip licking and tail lashing. Posture and eyes noticeably softened following interaction, slow blinked! Sprayed thunderease. 11/30/17 In den on approach, poked head out when spoken to, eyes dilated, wary. Came out with some coaxing. Allowed pets, continually looking around. Went back into den soon after, seemed uncomfortable with surroundings. Sprayed thunderease. 12/3/17 Crouched at front, wide-eyed, soft posture, looking around. Sat up when door opened, leaned and arched into pets, sat calmly when held. Ate treats after door closed, sniffed hand between bars.

Reaction to assessor:: Nena is sitting at the front on approach, eyes a little dilated.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Nena sits in place and looks at the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Nena stands, but stays at the front.
Reaction to touch:: Nena leans and arches into the stroke.
Reaction to being picked up:: Nena sits calmly in the assessor’s arms and looks around.
