I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/02/2016 from NY 10314, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

01/02/16 11:45 Profile was left due to cat being stray. Behavior During Intake: Nano was brought into the facility in a trap provided by the finder. Upon arrival Nano was thrashing around the trap in attempts to break free and flee. When I extended my hand to see if Nano would allow handling the cat darted in the opposite direction. Due to this behavior I was not able to handle Nano at the time of intake.

Nano came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Nano was attempting to flee and was not handled at the time of intake. Reaction to assessor: Nano is hiding in his den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Nano continues to hide, pressed against the back of his den. Reaction to cage door opening: Nano searches for an exit. Reaction to touch: Nano moves away from touch and tries to flee, allows minimal handling. Placement Determination: Experience No Child Nano does not approach the assessor, appears fearful, and is not interested in petting or handling. Nano is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents with no children who can allow him to adjust slowly to a new home environment.
