Nala is an unspayed gray tabby & white DSH that has no previous or current medical problems that owner is aware of. Owner has had Nala for a year. Socialization: According to the owner, Nala can either be shy for a few minutes around strangers or very friendly/outgoing. Nala has been in the presence of children, other cats and dogs and owner stated that she is relaxed and affection around children and other dogs and plays gently with them, and she is respectful around other cats. Nala has not bit another animal or person while in the care of the owner. Behavior: Nala enoys having her coat brushed and being picked up/held. She is afraid of being given a bath. Owner has never tried to trim her nails or put her in a carrier therefore behavior is not known. When it comes to being disturbed while Nala is sleeping, she is not bothered by that. For a New Family to Know: Nala is described as friendly, affectionate, and playful with a medium activity level. When in the home, Nala will follow the owner around, and sit on owners lap. Nala was an indoor only cat that is litter box trained. She used an uncovered litter box with crystal litter. Nala had a scratching post in the home out of carpet that she liked to use. When it comes to toys, Nala likes to play with balls and string toys. Owner fed Nala dry food only brand unknown. Owner stated that any type of home would be ideal for Nala as she is a sweetheart.
[ 6/7 behavior eval, ‘Beginner’ rating, of Nala A1076373 ] Nala came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who is friendly and playful and notes that she socialized well with children, dogs and other cats in the home. Reaction to assessor: Nala comes to the front of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Nala rubs against the cage front, soft and relaxed. Reaction to cage door opening. Nala remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Nala leans into petting and begins to purr, allows petting all over body. Reaction to pick up: Nala is calm during this type of handling. Placement Determination: Beginner Nala approaches the assessor, solicits petting and allows all handling. Nala is exhibiting behavior suited to beginner cat parents.
