Hello, my name is Mr. Kat. My animal id is #10232. I am a desexed male black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 19-Oct-2017.
Mr. Kat 10232 is at risk for an upper respiratory infection (URI), conjunctivitis, and possible additional chronic conditions. Please see the veterinary notes for further details and clarification. Started on erythromycin yesterday for conjunctivitis S/O -BAR, friendly and interactive -appears older than listed age, possible around 10-12 years -soft sneeze, mild serous nasal discharge -OU-moderate conjunctivitis, elevated 3rd eyelid; geriatric changes to iris, clouding of lens -eupnic -mild to moderate diffuse muscle wasting -slightly unthrifty hair coat A Geriatric URI Conjunctivitis P move to isolation doxycycline 1.2 ml PO SID x 10 days continue erythromycin monitor appetite, energy level, water intake-if any concerns, rec’d CBC/chem

Basic Information:: Mr. Kat is was brought in by Kaitlyn Perez she states that her cat was left behind when she moved out of the apartment and was left by itself.
How is this cat around strangers?: Don’t know if the cat is good with others
How is this cat around children?: Was told by the neighbor that the cat was living with three children in the household so it should be good around children
How is this cat around other cats?: unknown
How is this cat around dogs?: does not like being around dogs per neighbor she kept the cat for a day with her chihuahua and they did not get along

KNOWN HISTORY:: Mr. Kat was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. His finder reports he lived in a home with three children and suspects he does well around them. He did not get along with the finder’s chihuahua when they took him in for a day.

Reaction to assessor:: Mr. Kat was resting upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Mr. Kat does not respond at first, but after a moment he lifts his head to look at the assessor. He has almond-shaped eyes and then places his head back down to rest.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Mr. Kat remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch:: Mr. Kat sniffs the assessor’s hand before gently nudging it with his head. He leans in for cheek rubs and begins to purr. His tail is slightly lowered, but he seems to appreciate attention.
Reaction to being picked up:: Mr. Kat is a bit tense during pick up, but he remains calm when held.
