Hello, my name is Monterey . My animal id is #14294. I am a desexed male brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 7 months old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 21-Nov-2017.

Monterey is at risk for medical reasons. Monterey has contract Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats.

Upon intake Monterey allowed all handling. He was kneading and head butting the counselors hand. He allowed counselor to collar him, left him and place him in the carrier.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – growled during blood draw
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 11/22/17 Resting on bedding in main compartment, soft posture, somewhat dilated eyes. Sat up when door opened, sniffed treats but didn’t eat. Leaned and moved away to avoid touch, seemed unsure.

Reaction to assessor:: Monterey meows and approaches the front before lying down. He remains calm, relaxed, and friendly.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Monterey makes eye contact and starts to knead.

Reaction to touch:: Monterey sniffs the assessor’s hand, leans in for petting, and head-butts. he begins to purr and remains in place for petting.
