MONKEY – A1068128
Safe - 3-31-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 03/31/16** LIVED WITH VERY YOUNG KIDDOS AND A SMALL DOG! How delightful is MONKEY, a 4-year-old boy who has been a perfect companion to everyone he’s lived with up until now…although he did hiss at the dog when the dog ate Monkey’s food. Other than that, Monkey seems to have been a mellow companion who was given the boot because someone with allergies is supposedly coming to live with his former owners…..and, apparently, antihistamines aren’t sold in the 10462 zip code? That’s a crying shame because Monkey is about to be killed for some random persons’ sniffles, despite his brilliant biography and EXPERIENCE rating. Please make sure MONKEY beats the odds against him by advocating relentlessly for him, tonight!

03/20/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/20/16 18:15 BASIC INFO Monkey is a ~4 year old, male DSH cat. His family got him from a friend when he was a kitten and surrendered him because an ill family member who is allergic to cats is moving in with them. SOCIALIZATION Monkey is shy with new people at first. He lived with a child from ages 0-3 years and is relaxed, affectionate, and tolerant with him, sleeping with him at night. He plays gently with people. He lived with a small dog and was relaxed, affectionate, tolerant, and played exuberantly with him. He hissed at the dog when he ate his (Monkey’s) food. He’s never bit anyone. BEHAVIOR Monkey cried and urinated in his carrier in the car. He doesn’t mind being picked up, held, or woken up. He tries to jump out of the tub during baths. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Monkey’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, quiet, and medium energy. He follows his family and sits in their laps. He plays with balls and stuffed toys. He lived inside and slept with his owners. He ate dry Meow Mix and 9 Lives cat foods and enjoyed Temptations treats. He’s littertrained, used a covered litterbox with clumping litter, and didn’t have accidents. In the past, he had a vertical carpeted scratching post; during that time he scratched the post and didn’t scratch furniture. Now that he doesn’t have a scratching post, he occasionally scratches the couch. INTAKE Monkey was tense but tolerant as he walked out of his carrier and around the counter and while I pet him, dried him off, scanned him (-), collared him, positioned him for pictures, picked him up, and put him in a carrier. He didn’t resist, retreat, or vocalize.
