Safe - 6-3-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 06/03/16** 5 year old MONGO…still sits at the ACC! Waiting and waiting for a savior, she hopes will come to her RESCUE! She’s AVERAGE RATED and has a small wound on neck area as well as a scab on her back. She’s got a URI which will put her at the top of the “kill list”, even though she will be well enough, after some antibiotics! Offer to FOSTER or ADOPT MONGO! Don’t let a holiday weekend be the reason why she can’t be saved!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Mongo was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed petting upon intake, but she hissed when handling was attempted. She also hissed and growled during her initial medical exam. Please not that this cat is being treated for a wound at the time of the behavior evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Reaction to Assessor: Mongo was by the front, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mongo gets up, sniffs around, and leans slightly on the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Mongo remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mongo leans in for petting, head-butts, and starts to purr. Her tail starts to quiver and she is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Mongo remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Mongo interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. In spite of the wound, this cat remains social and affectionate. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
