Lip licks when the door opens and remains frozen. Wouldn’t come forward when spoken to softly. Appears uncomfortable but tolerates petting on his head and along body. Slowly starts to warm up with attention. After a few minutes he leaned forward allowing petting and rubs on his cheeks. Timid but has potential to warm up, just needs more time. 10/29/17 Lying on top of kuranda bed with a low, tense body. He sniffs my hand as I reach towards him and tolerates petting along his head and body while turning his head to watch my hand and flattening his ears. CHARACTER TYPE: : Timid,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful Cats Monday has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and has displayed distance-increasing behavior with extended handling. Fear aggression can occur when a cat perceives a threat and may escalate if they cannot escape. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him/her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: __ Experience Monday tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
