05/20/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/20/17 19:36 During intake Mommy was toward the back of the carrier. When being scanned she was relaxed. The finder stated that she is friendly and she would be able to take her out of the carrier so I could take her picture and colar her. The finder was able to take her out of tha carrier with no problem. When the counselor approached to collar her she was ok. When the collar was being placed around her neck she statred to back up. The finder continued to hold her and at that time she started to struggle to get away scratching the finfder in the right hand leaving a small scratch that did bleed. Shanna Perrone

05/28/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY Lived Outdoors. Mommy was brought into our care center by a community cat care-taker. Mommy’s finder reported her to be friendly and said she had no problem picking mommy up and placing her in a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Fractious. Trying to scratch, and bite. Tries to flee. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 05/27/17 Not as nervous today when I opened the door and approached her. She is curious and leans forward to sniff my hand. Warms up pretty quickly, rolls over on her side. Nuzzles up for attention, very sweet girl. Allows handling but gets antsy and leaps back into the kennel. 05/28/17 Sitting crouched in the back of the kennel as I approach, ears forward and eyes alert. She licks her lips when the cage door opens and comes forward as my hand moves towards her, giving my hand a gentle head-butt. She allows petting along her head and body, rolling over onto her side after a few minutes and rolling on the kennel floor. Really starting to warm up – did well today! Turned quickly to look back at my arm when attempted to pick her up. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Mommy is sitting crouched in the back of the kennel as the assessor approaches. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mommy stands up and stretches when spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: Mommy sits back down in a crouched position and licks her lips as the cage door opens. Reaction to touch: Mommy head-butts the assessors hand gently when touched and allows petting along her head and body, rolling over onto her side. Reaction to being picked up: Mommy backs away and growls when the assessor attempts to pick her up. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Sweet, Independent POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Uncomfortable with pick up Mommy did not appear to like being picked up during their behavior evaluation. Please keep in mind there are many reasons why a cat may be uncomfortable with this type of handling and that this may not necessarily translate into a home environment. We recommend any future home with children be counseled in respecting the cat’s space and for the family to use care when picking her up, especially while she is still adjusting to her new home.
**Behavior continued** RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent Mommy may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. She has shown improvement while staying here in our care center and now allows all petting, even rolling over onto her side. She does need you to approach her first and spend a few minutes with her before she starts to solicit attention. Even though Mommy has warmed up during her stay here Mommy is still uncomfortable with being picked up by staff, therefore the behavior team recommends that Mommy goes to a home with experienced cat owners.
