Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Molt was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Molt was lying down on his blanket at the back of the kennel with his tail at his side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Molt keeps his paws folded under his body, is alert and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Molt’s ears perk up and he focuses on the assessor. Reaction to touch: Molt gets up and looks around the kennel for an exit and remains alert. His body is tense and he quickly rushes forward attempting to flee when the assessor approaches him. He stress meows at the front then retreats to the back and currently allows no contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Molt is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
