***SAFE 09/24/17*** MARVELOUS MOLLY SHOULD NOT DIE BECAUSE HER OWNER MOVED AWAY!!! MOLLY AND housemate, MUFFIN (not listed tonight) lost their home to owner moving – THEY are only 4 yrs old and already spayed!! MOLLY allowed gentle petting but she is nervous which is totally understandable. She caught the shelter cold and is now facing her end. MUST RESERVE MOLLY BY NOON!!

A1125137 Molly is at-risk with an adult only determination. Her previous owner reports she is fearful of strangers and will hide until they’re gone. She displays fearful behavior in the shelter environment and does not appear to be thriving. Although she tolerates gentle petting, she appears very uncomfortable and will hiss.

09/11/17 15:13 Basic information Molly is a female, black and white domestic short hair cat that is estimated to be 4 years old. Her previous owner got her as a gift and kept her for the last 4 years until they were moving and unable to take her with them. She has no known medical problems and has been to the vet in the last 2 years. Socialization Molly is fearful around strangers and will hide when new people come into the house and will hide until they leave the room. She does not like playing with kids and will run away from them. When playing with adults she will play with them using cat toys and doesn’t like rough play. Molly has lived her whole life with another cat in the home and gets along with them she likes to play with other cats and is much more active with other cats around. She has never spent time with dogs. She has no history of ever biting another person or animal. Behavior Molly hides in fear when she hears a loud sound or if a stranger comes into the house. When she is upset she will scratch if she feels like she is cornered. During car rides she will meow and cry. She is very litterbox trained and never has accidents outside of them. She is afraid of baths, and being placed in carriers she struggles and tried to run away. She likes having her hair brushed when she is lying next to you. For a new family Molly’s previous owner describes her as shy and quiet. She has a high energy level when playing with her catnip toys or other cats. She will follow you around the house when she is hungry and eats wet and dry food. She has lives her life indoors only and likes to sleep somewhere high up. She is very litterbox trained and only uses uncovered litter boxes. She likes to use cardboard scratching posts. Behavior during intake Molly was very loose bodied when being handled she allowed me to collar, take her picture and pick her up to place her in the kennel while kepping a loose body. She ate from the food dish while it was in my hand.

Behavior toward children: will run away from them Behavior toward cats: gets along with them she likes to play with other cats and is much more active with other cats around Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: Molly’s previous owner describes her as shy and quiet. She has a high energy level when playing with her catnip toys or other cats. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/12/17- Observed Behavior – calm, allows exam EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Molly remains tense, hiding in the cage cubby behind the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Molly becomes alert with eyes dilated, sitting upright. Reaction to cage door opening: Molly stiffens body, increases distance. Reaction to touch: Molly allows a brief touch on the head, but clearly uncomfortable with contact ears draw back and hisses at the assessor’s hand. Reaction to being picked up: Unable to perform do to behavior. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Molly may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
