KNOWN HISTORY: Mittens was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Tense, allowed handling but low growling through exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/25/17 Sitting in front of kennel with a relaxed body, ears forward. Allows petting along his head and body, standing up and stretching as he comes forward. Begins eating soon after being touched – social eater perhaps. Doing well! Big tom cat cheeks – very cute. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Mittens was lying down and relaxed at the back of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mittens slow blinks then slowly comes forward and rubs against the cage door for attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Mittens steps out the kennel and explores his surroundings. Reaction to touch: Mittens was very focused on his environment, his tail was lowered and he was a bit tense when touched along his head and back. His body perks up when pet then he leans in allowing rubs and petting all over. Reaction to being picked up: Mittens was a bit tense when picked up but he remained calm and allowed all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Mittens interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

Tense, allowed handling but low growling through exam Evidence of Cruelty seen – No Evidence of Trauma seen – Yes, minor wound Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Chipped upper right canine, moderate staining, mild gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Male MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, thin hair coat around thoracic region, generalized brittle coat, ~1cm full thickness skin wound at right side of neck CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Wound, dental disease, FAD – wound likely self inflicted from scratching Plan: Cleaned wound with nolvasan, gave convenia 0.52ml SQ.
