07/02/17 18:48 Basic Information: Mittens is a 1yr old cat who came into the shelter with his son Checkers and daughter Tiny who are both 4 months old. Unfortunately the previous owner is moving to a no pets allowed building and was unable to keep them all. There is no record of them ever going to the vet. Socialization: Around children and strangers Mittens and his children, Checkers and Tiny, are known to be Friendly/outgoing, relaxed, playful and respectful and play gentle with both adults and children. They have been socialized with both cats and dogs and they are respectful and playful with both. No record of ever bitting another animal or person. Behavior: All cats will only meow for attention or when they are hungry and will meow during a car ride but then become relaxed. They have never had any litter box accidents, will struggle during bath time but aren’t bothered with having their nails trimmened, being brushed, being picked up and held, being put in a carrier or being disturbed while asleep. For a New Family to Know: All cats are described as friendly, affectionate, playful, somewhat mellow, confident, independent and talkative. They have medium activity levels, love to cuddle and relax in the shower tub, will follow you around when home and like to play with balls, strings and wand toys. They have been kept indoors only, can sleep anywhere, eat blue buffalo dry food 3x a day, are considered house-trained, prefer an uncovered litter box with crystal litter and have no interests in scratching posts. Mittens allowed all handling, being collared and having his picture taken.

Reaction when softly spoken to: Mittens averts his gaze, but has soft eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Mittens remains soft and looks around. Reaction to touch: Mittens accepts petting and meows softly. He appears wary of his surroundings, but doesn’t seem to mind being pet on his head and body. Reaction to being picked up: Mittens becomes tense during pick up, but remains calm when held. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Affectionate, Calm BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Mittens interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
