Mitten was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous owner. She was tense and nervous during her initial medical exam, but was easy to handle. The enrichment facilitator has reported that she appeared nervous during her first couple of days in the care center, but she has acclimated well in this environment and now comes forward to solicit attention. Reaction to Assessor: Mitten was calm and relaxed upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mitten comes to the front and sniffs the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Mitten remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mitten lightly head-butts, begins to purr, and leans into petting. Reaction to being picked up: Mitten remains soft and allows handling. Placement Determination: Average MItten interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
