***GONE 10/07/17*** SWEET 9 YEAR OLD MISU HAS A MAMMARY TUMOR AND NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT! Misu lost her home when owner got sick. She lived with adults and children. Misu is nervous in the shelter and needs someone to give her a home and some much needed vet care. PLEASE HELP MISU AND RESERVE HER BY NOON!!
Hello, my name is Misu. My animal id is #7761. I am a female white cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 9 years old. – P

Misu is at risk with an Adult-Only behavior determination, and with a medical condition (see notes below). She has allowed some touch and petting but remains uncomfortable and has shown possible overstimulation with extended interactions.

Behavior Assessment Date: 10/4/2017 KNOWN HISTORY: The former owner stated around strangers Misu is shy for a few minutes, sometimes for a while. She has spent time with children in the home, ages 3-6. She is usually tolerant of them. She does not play with children and when she plays with adults she is exuberant. She has not spent time with other cats or other pets. Misu is described as a friendly, affectionate, mellow, shy, fearful, independent and quiet cat. Her activity level is medium. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/30/17- Observed Behavior: hissing, swatting, striking ENRICHMENT NOTES: N/A Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Misu remains tense, crouched position at the back of the cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Misu remains immobile in place with eyes wide open. Reaction to cage door opening: Misu stiffens up, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Misu briefly allows the stroke, but hisses and focuses on the assessor’s hand when touched along the back. Reaction to being picked up: Unable to perform do to behavior. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold Curious POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: None Potential challenges comments: N/A BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experienced, adult only Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable RECOMMENDATIONS: None Recommendations comments: N/A BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Misu tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
