07/21/16 08:48hrs Misty is described as shy, friendly and calm. She has lived with an 11 year old child in the home. Misty is affectionate with the family but reserved with new people. Her owner stated that she will come to you when she wants attention. Once she warms up to someone new, she becomes affectionate. Misty was introduced to a puppy and she hissed at him. She is an indoor cat only. BEHAVIOR Misty will follow the 11 year old around the home all day because she is attached to him more. She enjoys climbing and hiding onto of the cabinets in the home. She will jump onto the lap of her family members when she wants attention. She is accustomed to grooming herself. Her family has attempted to brush her but she will always run away. When there are guest in the home Misty will hide the entire visit. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Misty uses an uncovered litter box filled with Tidy Cats Breeze Cat Litter Pellets. She doesn’t tend to play with the toys given to her. She was given a standing scratching post covered in sisal rope. She would use it once in a while but would continue to scratch at her owner’s fabric covered couch. She is accustomed to eating Blue Buffalo dry cat food. Misty would sleep in the bed with the child in the home. DURING INTAKE Misty remained crouched in the back of her carrier. She woud sniff when a hand was extended but back away. While outside of her carrier, she would allow petting but attempt to retreat to her carrier. She was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.

Misty came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who describes her as shy at first, but affectionate once she warms up and notes that she socialized very well with an 11-year-old in the home. Reaction to assessor: Misty is lying mid-cage, body flat. Reaction when softly spoken to: Misty looks at assessor, neutral. Reaction to cage door opening: Misty shifts to the back of her cage. Reaction to touch: Misty gradually softens as she is being petted. Reaction to pick up: Misty is tense, nervous during this type of handling. Placement Determination: Experience Misty does not approach the assessor and appears nervous, but appreciates petting and tolerates handling. Misty is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents and may need additional adjustment time to a new home environment.
