***SAFE 02/10/16***PLAY MISTY FOR ME-BE HER HERO! A volunteer writes, “Misty is a shiny black beauty, who’s still a little shy in her new surroundings and situation. At first I thought her big wide eyes meant she was scared, but she quickly warmed up and purred in response to the attention. It doesn’t take much to win her confidence, and once you do, she’ll win your heart.” Six year old Misty came in with her feline pals, CANDACE – A1063326 and ODEE – A1063325 (both safe). This friendly family lost their home when their former owner decided to move and not take them along. Misty is friendly, playful, gentle and of course, used to living with other cats as an indoor only pet. Her precious life is on the line tonight and she needs YOU to help write a happy ending to her sad tale. Please reserve this black beauty online or let a rescue know if you can help. Transportation is available. Email our help desk for assistance–[email protected] . Sweet Misty only has tonight. We are her only hope. Don’t let her down. Make the call for Misty NOW!!!

01/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Misty’s former owner described her as friendly, affectionate and playful. She has a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Misty looks tense in her cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Misty remains crouched position at the back of the cage, body held tightly, alert with pupils dilated. Reaction to touch: Misty seems unsure with her surroundings, but accepts the stroke. During the touch she began to flinch and lip lick in place. Placement determination: Experience / no child Misty tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. 2/5 update: Misty has made progress with attention from our Enrichment Facilitator. She allows petting but does not solicit attention and hides behind her litterbox, eyes dilated. She no longer hisses when interacted with but remains extremely anxious in this environment. She is not thriving and we recommend that, in consideration of her stress level, she moves into a stable home environment as soon as possible.
