I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/16/2017 from NY 11421, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

Mishu A1111022 is at risk due to behavior – Very nervous, hisses when hand is extended. Will allow gentle petting, but appears very uncomfortable and focuses on your hand when touched along his body. He remains immobile throughout interaction.

PE: WNL Exam & surgery performed by Dr. #0844 Feline neuter Anesthesia – 0.10mL Telazol induction. Sx. – Routine scrotal castration. No sutures placed, incisions left open to drain. Green linear tattoo placed on ventral abdomen. 0.61mL Simbadol injectable and 0.45mL Onsior for pain management.

05/16/17 12:55 Basic information MIshu is a male orange tabby DSH with no known medical conditions. Owner has had MIshu for 1 year and is surrendering because they are moving to a place that does not accept pets. Socialization and behavior MIshu has not lived with children with the previous owner but has been introduced to them. Around children MIshu is respectful and will walk by them but does not play with them. MIshu has not lived with other cats but has lived with dogs. MIshu is friendly with one dog and likes to follow him around but the other dog that is more playful and rough MIshu will avoid. Around strangers MIshu is shy and will hide. MIshu has not been given a bath or had his nails trimmed by previous owner. MIshu isnt bothered when being brushed and is quiet in car rides. MIshu does not like being picked up for more than a few minutes and will jump out of your arms. When being placed in a carrier MIshu is scared and will struggle to get away from it. For the new family to know MIshu was described as mellow and quiet with a medium activity level. When home with MIshu he will either be lounging in his favorite spot or following you around when hungry. MIshu enjoys playing with balls and mouse toys. MIshu is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with fresh step litter. MIshu also likes to go outside in the back yard to hang out during the day. He will sometimes use the bathroom outside too. MIshu eats any brand dry food. MIshu has a scratching post made of carpet that he likes to use but before he had a scratching post he would scratch on the door. When its time for bed MIshu likes to sleep on the bed or on the couch. Behavior during intake MIshu was quiet during intake. In carrier MIshu growled once but after a few minutes of warming up he allowed to be scanned and collared with no problem. MIshu allowed all handling.

KNOWN HISTORY: Indoor and outdoor cat Previously lived with: Adult Behavior toward strangers: Shy and will hide Behavior toward children: Spent time around children and was respectful and kept his distance Behavior toward cats: Relaxed and gentle Behavior toward dogs: He’s friendly with one dog and likes to follow him around but will avoid the other dog that is more playful and rough. Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Mellow and quiet with a medium activity level. Other notes: He doesn’t like being held and will struggle when placed in a carrier. MIshu also likes to go outside in the back yard to hang out during the day. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Tense, trembling, and shy. Freezes up when restrained, allows all handling. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: MIshu was sitting up and pressed his body against the back wall of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mishu remains motionless with wide eyes focused on the assessor. He lip licks and didn’t move or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Mishu remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Mishu starts lip licking and breathing heavily when the assessor extends his hand out. He remained completely immobile throughout the interaction, had a tense body and tolerated petting. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Mishu tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.

05/17/17 DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 5 yrs Microchip noted on Intake? No. History : Brought in by owner, no medical problems noted. Had a previous injury to left ear several years ago. Subjective: Observed Behavior – Tense, trembling, and shy. Freezes up when restrained, allows all handling. Evidence of Cruelty seen – No. Evidence of Trauma seen – No. Objective: QARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. HR=220, RR=20. BCS=5/9. ORAL: Mild gingivitis, minimal calculus. EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted. AS – pinna scarred down. PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs/arrhythmias. No dyspnea. ABD: Non painful, no masses/organomegaly palpated. U/G: Intact male, both testicles palpable. MS: Ambulatory x 4, no lameness. INTEG: Full, clean haircoat, no masses, no fleas. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities. A: Apparently healthy adult cat. P: OK for neuter surgery. Excellent prognosis.
