I am a neutered male brn tabby and white domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/25/2017 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was NO TIME.

`06/25/17 15:23 Miracle is a 3 year old unaltered brown tabby. He was found on the streets and the owner has had him for 3 years. He has no known injuries or health problems. Around strangers, he is very shy but the owner stated he will come out if the strangers have food. He has lived with children younger than one and was tolerant and usually stayed away from them. He is very exuberant in play with adults. He has not lived with children. He has not lived with other cats. Miracle has spent time with small dogs and was tolerant and would also stay away from them. He has not bitten a person or another animal. His owner states he does scratch the couch because she never provided a scratching post or pad. During the car ride, he was quiet. His owner reports no litterbox issues. Miracle will struggle when given a bath, brushed out, trimming nails, or be placed in a carrier. he is not bothered by being picked up and held. Miracle is described as an affectionate, playful, and independent cat with a medium activity level. he enjoys lounging around, playing with strings, bells, and pens, and loves to help his owner out in the kitchen by supervising food prep and looking in the fridge. He tends to follow his owner around when she comes out to ask for food. He was kept indoors only and eats both wet and dry Meow mix. His favorite treat is canned tuna. he is use to having an uncovered litterbox with clay litter. He was scratching the couch due to having no scratching post or pad.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived indoors Previously lived with: Adults and young children Behavior toward strangers: Shy but will come and interact if they have food Behavior toward children: Tolerant and kept his distance Behavior toward cats: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Tolerant and kept his distance Bite or Scratch history: No Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Affectionate, playful, and independent cat with a medium activity level. Other notes: He didn’t have a scratching post and instead scratched on the couch. He struggles when given a bath, brushed out, trimming nails, or being placed in a carrier. He doesn’t mind being picked up and held. He enjoys lounging around, playing with strings, bells, and pens, and loves to help his owner out in the kitchen by supervising food prep and looking in the fridge. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Squished at back of carrier. Allows to be taken out of carrier and all body parts to be touched. Little to average restraint required; cat tends toward flight. Startled by quick movements or noises, but recovers quickly. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/27/17 Hunched over in litter box, looking out with wide eyes. Ears tilt sideways, but sniffs hand. Flinches when pet and seems very unsure, slowly shifting away and curling up by the back corner. Lip licks and slow blinks after. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Miracle was crouched in the back of the kennel with a tense body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Miracle’s eyes widen, he lip licks and slowly turns his head away. Reaction to cage door opening: Miracle shifts away to the other side of the double kennel. Reaction to touch: Miracle seems wary of his surroundings and dodges the assessor’s hand when approached. His ears tilt sideways and he flinches when touched on his head. He has a tense/stiff body, shifts away to the corner of the kennel and curls up tight. He tolerates petting but seems very uncomfortable and slowly turns his head away. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced, adult home only – Miracle tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
