SAFE 4/30/18 MINNIE is a 12 week old kitten who is VERY FRIENDLY! Sadly she has some intestinal issues and urinary issues including hematuria which need follow up medical eval to determine what is wrong or if there is infection or other issues. MINNIE can get all the care she needs if you offer to foster her – the rescue will handle vetting while you give a home til Minnie feels better and can be adopted!

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: normal kitten dentition.
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: No murmur ausculted; CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: pink-tinged urine; straining to urinate. No palpable bladder. intact female.
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted; 2cm abrasion along the left maxillary labia. red / pink tinged fluid along fur.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: grossly normal.
Assessment
hematuria w stranguria r/o Urinary calculi (urate, cysteine), FLUTD, cystitis, or UTI (less likely)
abrasion
anemia – r/o 2nd to intestinal parasites, hematuria, other.
Prognosis:
fair to good.

UA: no-sorb placed in kennel.

SURGERY:
Temporary waiver due to illness
Radiograph interpretation – abdominal.
Good alignment. Physeal plates are open within the long bones and pelvis. overall, decreased abdominal serosal detail due to animal’s young age (12 weeks). Difficult to visualize all organs.
Liver appears normal in size and shape. Intestines and gastric space is filled with ingesta, colon contains feces. Multifocal areas of mineral opacity (possible litter or other rock ingestion or second to diet) within the Gi tract. No bladder visible. no evidence of urinary stones within kidneys or bladder. this does not rule out cysteine or urate stones (radiolucent).
Blood sample obtained from LHL medial saphenous vein with a 25g butterfly needle and syringe. In house CBC/chem to be run.

mild regenerative anemia (HCT 21.6% [30.3-52.3%]) – r/o 2nd to intestinal parasites vs 2nd to hematuria.
mild leukocytosis r/o stress leukogram vs inflammation vs infection .
chemistry is unremarkable. — no indication of liver or renal dysfunction
