ENRICHMENT NOTES:
05/22/18
Crouched/tense perched on top the kuranda bed. Makes eye contact & lip licks when spoken to softly. Seems unsure, keeps to himself. Sniffs hand, then quickly leans away. Not comfortable being pet yet. Needs more time to adjust. Seems interested in tuna, leans forward to sniff, but wouldn’t eat in front of me.
05/23/18
Tense and curled up on top the kuranda bed. Very uncomfortable, turns head away when I approach him. Sniffs hand, tolerates gentle petting on his head/cheeks. Needs a slow approach. He perks up and leans forward when I open the tuna puree (food motivated). Slowly starts to warm up, leans in for attention, raises rear. Did well today, needs more time to adjust.
05/27/18
Lying on top of kuranda bed, body low and ears slightly tilted. He sniffs my hand when offered and allows petting along his head and body while turning head to continue to smell my hand. Tense today – tolerates petting for duration of session. Tail begins to sway. Eats all treats offered but won’t come to the front of his kennel for them. Needs some time to adjust.
05/28/18
Lying on top of kuranda bed, body neutral and ears are forward. Eyes are alert. He leans in for petting as I reach towards him and allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and raising his tail. Arches into petting and turns head to head-butt my hand. Calm today – allowed all petting for duration of interaction. Did well today!
05/29/18
Lying in front of kennel, ears forward. Face is soft. Makes eye contact when spoken to and stands up as kennel door opens. Allows petting along head and body while leaning in and raising tail. Eyes are alert. I click and reward with a treat each time he allows a full pet along his head and body. Tail waves back and forth with extended interaction. Has potential to become overstimulated.
Cage Condition:
Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:
Mini Me was lying down in the back of the kennel, with her tail wrapped around his body.
Reaction when softly spoken to:
Mini Me’s ears tilt forward, his pupils dilate and he doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:
Mini Me hissed then retreated to the other side of the double kennel.
Reaction to touch:
Mini Me lowers his body and lip licks when approached, but slowly starts to warm up with attention. His tail thrashes around, but he leans in, and allows petting all over his body.
