Curious of surroundings. Comes forward and seeks attention. Walks out kennel. Allows petting all over. Tail up allows handling.
As per previous owner, Mikey is friendly and out going with strangers, he has been exposed to children ages 6, 7 and 12. Mikey is friendly and plays gently with children & adults. Mikey has resided with a nother cat and gets along well with the other cat. He has not been exposed to dogs or other animals.
Reaction to assessor: Mikey does not come to front but looks at you calm, relaxed and friendly
When spoken quietly: Mikey comes to the front of cage soliciting attention
Reaction to door cage opening: Mikey remains soft and relaxed
Reaction to touch: Mikey solicits petting and attention
Try picking cat up: Mikey is tolerant of this type of handling
Behavior Determination: Beginner
At the time of the assessment
Mikey was displaying friendly behavior, comes to the front of the kennel, interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Mikey is displaying behavior appropriate for a beginner cat owner.
BASIC INFORMATION: Mikey is a neutered, 3 yrs old black DMH. Mikey was adopted through NSAL and is apparently healthy. Mikey has no known health issues. Mikey was surrendered to ACC due to owner no longer having enough time to care for him.
SOCIALIZATION: Mikey is friendly and out going with strangers, he has been exposed to children ages 6, 7 & 12. Mikey is friendly with children & plays gently with children & adults. Mikey has resided with a nother cat & gets along well with the other cat. He has not been exposed to dogs or other animals. Mikey has not bitten or scratched another animal or person within the past 10 days.
BEHAVIOR: Mikey gives the owner a struggle when owner attempts to bath & groom him. Mikey allows his owner to pick him up & hold him. Mikey does not like to go into a carrier and will try to flee.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Mikey is best described as a friendly, playful & affectionate cat. Mikey has a low activity level & enjoys lounging around & laying on soft spots. When owner comes home, Mikey does not follow the owner around the home & will stay in the same spot. Mikey has been kept indoors only. Mikey enjoys eating dry food from any brand, & is litter box trained. He uses clay litter inside of an uncovered litter box.Mikey uses a scratching post made of carpet.
BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Mikey is very friendly and allowed counselor to handle. Mikey scanned negative & is left-ear tipped.
