Details on my behavior are…
Behavior Condition: 3. Yellow
KNOWN HISTORY:: Mike was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 01/14/18 Hissing but used towel and was ok. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Mike was tense, wary and hiding underneath the kuranda bed with his tail wrapped at his side.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Mike lip licks and watches the assessor with wide, dilated eyes, but doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Mike remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Mike seems unsure of his surroundings and lowers his body when the assessor extends his hand out. He lip licks and tolerates slow, gentle petting along her body. His eyes dart around the kennel and he shifts away when he’s done interacting.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Laid back
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Timid,Independent
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:: Fearful
Potential challenges comments:: Mike has displayed fearful behavior during their stay in the care center and may dislike certain types of handling. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide him with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experience
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
RECOMMENDATIONS:: None
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Please note that Mike is being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the time of the behavior assessment. This condition may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Mike may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
