***SAFE 07/14/17 *** 8 year old MICKEY was dumped in the shelter by his owner for “pet health”. Mickey was reported to not be walking well and not able to use the litterbox. He needs a medical eval and a new home.

07/13/2017 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 4 NC – SEVERE CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is NONE, Weight 14.1 LBS.
Hx: owner surrender due to a 3 day history of inappetance, lethargy, no urination/defecation and difficulty walking; owner reported everytime they touched his hind end, he would cry in pain; blood work overall WNL, abd rads show blunting of liver margins and soft fecal material in colon but NOSF. Receiving LRS and Cerenia. Good appetite this morning. Walked around a little in kennel. Very relaxed, rested on technician’s shoulder today and allowed himself to be carried around the room. S: Calm, relaxed body, allows all handling O: BAR-H, BCS 8/9, MMs pink and moist EENT: No discharge OU, AU, nose. H/L: Eupnic, not ausculted Abd: Soft, large M/S/I: Amb x4. Some mats on back – clipped after exam. No skin lesions noted. Neuro: Alert and appropriate, no sign neurological deficiencies A: 1. Obese 2. Former owner reports pt wasn’t walking, wasn’t eating or drinking – R/O chronic pancreatitis, ATE, musculoskeletal pain, FLUTD, other Short-term prognosis: Fair P: 1. Add Simbadol 0.85 ml SQ SID x5 days 2. Recommend abd ultrasound and consider cardiac consultation 1088

07/11/17 10:47 Basic Information: Mickey is a altered male Maine Coon mix. He was given as a gift 8 year ago. He’s been having some health issues such as not using the bathroom for a few days. Owner surrenders due to pet health. Social Life and Personality: Mickey lived with one female adult and been around a three year old. Owner stated Mickey is shy for a few minutes then becomes friendly. He is tolerant towards children and can be gentle. He lived with three other cats and owner stated he was fearful and usually stayed to himself. He was indoors only and actvity is low. Behavior: Mickey has never bitten orscratched anyone. He never recieved a nail trim or bath. He struggles being pick up but isn’t bothered going inside of a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Mickey is trained to use the litter box and shared with other cats in the home. He ate wet and dry food twice a day along with water. He like to play with mouse toys with owner. Owner describe MMickey as mellow and indepedent. Intake Behavior: Upon intake Mickey was calm but nervous. He didn’t want to come out carrier but when handled he allowed. He scanned negative for a microchip.

Sniffed hand, leaned into pets, purred. Ate treats! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Mickey looks at the assessor with soft eyes and body. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mickey continues to look at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Mickey remains calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mickey leans into the stroke and begins to purr. Reaction to being picked up: Mickey sits calmly in the assessor’s arms and looks around. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Sweet, Independent BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Mickey interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.

No masses palpated, bladder not palpable U/G: Male neutered MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted. Some mats on back. CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Lateral and VD abdominal rads: Gas and feces in colon. Gas in stomach. Small bladder.
