***SAFE 03/25/16*** AS IF THE ACC ISN’T BAD ENOUGH, THEY HAVE KILL LISTED A CAT NAMED MESSIAH DURING HOLY WEEK!! Poor MESSIAH was certainly crucified by his former owner!! She couldn’t wait to leave the ACC fast enough and just said that she was scared of the cat…..she did bring him to a vet on 3/6 but we don’t know what for or what the results of the vet visit were…..MESSIAH does seem to be a grumpy guy but when cats are grumpy there is usually a reason….maybe the treatment in his former home?? MESSIAH is quite handsome, he is 8 years young and already NEUTERED. He did interact with assessor and actually rolled over!! MESSIAH COULD REALLY USE AN UNDERSTANDING AND PATIENT FOSTER OR ADOPTER TONIGHT!! He is New Hope only rated so he must be pulled by a rescue. WHAT DO YOU SAY?? CAN YOU SAVE THIS “GRUMPY CAT””? Please apply to FOSTER or ADOPT NOW!! If you need assistance, email [email protected]……

03/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Messiah’s previous owner reports he is very temperamental and has a history of biting and scratching. The owner was fearful of him and decided to surrender him to the care center. He was growling and hissing upon intake and he became defensive during his initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports he displayed distance increasing behavior during his first days in the care center. He tolerated brief petting after a few days, but continued to growl intermittently. Reaction to assessor: Messiah was crouched over on top of his den. Reaction when softly spoken to: Messiah meows softly at first, but he starts to grumble and whine. Reaction to cage door opening: Messiah remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Messiah sniffs the assessor’s hand and allows gentle petting on his head. He leans into touch, arches his back, and begins to roll over. He appears to appreciate attention, but when petting stops he would whine and grumble again. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Messiah tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
