05/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Melvin was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Melvin was alert with wide eyes at the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Melvin’s ears bend flat and she slowly shifts away from contact. Reaction to cage door opening: Melvin retreats to the back. Reaction to touch: Melvin hisses and lowers her body as I attempt to pet her. His body is tense and he tolerates petting all over. Reaction to being picked up: Melvin is tense and buries his head into the assessor’s arms trying to hide. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Melvin tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
