She is very hesitant of touch and will press her body against the back wall, flinching when contact is made and appears very uncomfortable throughout the interaction.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Independent KNOWN HISTORY: Melky was brought in with limited information on their behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/5/17- Observed Behavior – terrified, hard to remove from carrier, tries ENRICHMENT NOTES: 9/6/17 Crouched in litter box, eyes fully dilated, very stiff posture. Flinched when door opened, trembling? Sat up and retreated when attempted touch, pressed against the wall, ears sideways. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Melky remains tense, crouched position at the back hiding behind the litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Melky remains immobile in place with no interest. Reaction to cage door opening: Melky tightly curls up with tail close to the body, alert with an intense stare, ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Melky accepts the touch while she slowly leans away from the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to his new home and family at his own pace.
