06/14/17 11:23 Melissa walked out of the carrier on her own. She was difficult to photograph because she would not stop moving. Se started to hiss after the thrid time the couneslor repositioned her for teh photos. She jump off the counter and growled when the couneslor picked her up but she did not attempt to bite or swat.

KNOWN HISTORY: Melissa was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Allows handling initially but then growling with further exam. Hissing and trying to bite with shaving for spay scar. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/15/17 Sitting crouched in back of kennel. She stands up and moves as if she is going to retreat through her portal when I open the kennel door, but then settles back down into a crouched position. She sniffs my hand and tolerates petting along her head and body while tense. May be uncomfortable due to medical condition. Sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Melissa moved away to the back of the kennel and curled up tight. Reaction when softly spoken to: Melissa makes eye contact, lip licks and didn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Melissa slowly loosens up and rolls over on her side. Reaction to touch: Melissa sniffs the assessor, gives soft head butts and appreciates attention. She rolls around playfully and is constantly rubbing up and soliciting attention. Reaction to being picked up: Melissa is calm, relaxed and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet, Affectionate Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Melissa interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 12 Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : owner surrender – cat showed up prior night vocalizing. Subjective: BAR. Mod dehydration. Eating very well. Observed Behavior – Allows handling initially but then growling with further exam. Hissing and trying to bite with shaving for spay scar. Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = 188 R = eup BCS= 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted. Oral Exam: missing most pre-molars/ molars, marked tartar on few remaining premolars. Gingival recession on canines. PLN: No enlargements noted. H/L: mild gallop rhythm, NMA, MM pk, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated but ropey intestines. U/G: Small symmetric kidneys. Small bladder. Shaved – no spay scar seen. Mass L cranial chest – oblong 4 x 6 cm, open, ulcerated, erythematous. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, healthy hair coat. CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: n Assessment: Mammary tumor – large, open. 8% dehydration. Plan: SQF 150. repeat 100 cc daily x 3 days. Pen g G 0.4 cc. Simbadol 0.4 cc, repeat daily x 3 days. Set up for xray (chest/ whole body 3 view) and BW. Re-check VC tomorrow. Prognosis: Poor SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to mammary tumor
